An interesting foreign couple asked me for directions in Stanley Park the other day, and I was quite drawn to speak with them. The woman was from Switzerland, her husband Oman told me his wife was really into trees because of a book she was reading. Ah – A soulmate! She told me that this book was only available in German, and it describes how trees communicate through their roots! For example: there are some trees in Africa that can secrete a toxic substance to turn off giraffe’s that are coming to eat them. Not only that, trees at a distance will warn other trees that the giraffes are coming! When I find out when this book will be translated I’ll let you know. The French are going to make it into a movie. For me, I think of my beautiful family and how we help each other and how similar we are to a group of trees.

To Blog or Not to Blog…that is the question
To blog, or not to blog – that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them. To die-to sleep-
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to. ‘Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish’d. To die-to sleep.
Act 11 sc.1 Hamlet, Bill Shakespeare
Well, the answer is TO BE silly…it always is!
I received my new instructions just this morning.
So You Like My Poetry
ok. that’s cool. Being with you is all I’ve ever wanted.
Like tasting the first ripe cherry of the season
or breathing in the first wild white rose growing
in tangled leafy thatches down by the lagoon
the total immersion of my senses that you are
walking barefoot, hand in hand, over a soft emerald carpet of grass.

Come to the Garden Come to the Sea!
Summer’s first sweet roses are here…with a scent that carries you far away,
or is it far within?
bite into your first shiny purple cherry, slip on a foxglove
watch blue back swifts dip and curve through the amber evening air
see tiny wood ducklings zoom at bugs darting in the air just over their heads
See all the firsts. All the miracles of Summer’s colourful pageant beginning…

Mission of Mercy, Labour of Love…
Here I am in Napanee Ontario, the birthplace of Avril Lavigne. But my mission here is to visit my dear Da and hero in hospital. Stanley’s been in for five weeks already. I’m happy to say it looks like he’ll be going home soon, and we’ve had some great day passes together, noodling around and looking at stuff. Yesterday we scored big by coming upon a shipyard beside the road, near the Mill Bay ferry. Dad is very much a man of the sea, always had boats. When he saw the beauties there he said, “I may have to pick one of these up!” He was in great spirits yesterday, most heartwarming.

Ants, Uncles and Telepathic >>>> Messages )))))))))
Last year right on Daylight Savings the ants showed up. Like they were taking their cue from the Great Ant conductor in the sky. Sometime last week I started making preparations, so I might be able to head them off at the pass this year. At every entry point, I laid out a mixture of cornmeal and borax, while sending them strong  telepathic  messages  not   to  come  at   all  !
ha haaaaa!
do   not   come
go   eat   somewhere   else    please    !
so far…no ants! Â TT__HH___AAA__NN__KK__YYYY__OO__UUUUUUUU Â !!!!! Â Ants…and uncles…
Happy International Women’s Day!
Yup, got all jacked up on dong quai today and joined the women’s liberation movement march on Commercial drive.
At one point a guy in one of those unreasonably huge pick up trucks, threw a fit and laid down some rubber because we’d apparently put a dent in his day. Someone shouted out ,”dude, calm down. You’re the reason we’re having this march!” Perfect.
Meet Natalie Drache, Doyenne of Actions, maintaining perfect cool. It was a beautiful day.
